Building works had been finished two years before, and the garden has not been touched. The owners wished a garden that blended completely with its mountainous surroundings. The brief was to create a natural garden, incorporating the aging Holm oak they had been able to keep during construction.
The design traced a path around the garden that connects the different sitting and dining areas that have been organized. The views over the landscape have been promoted in the placement of the different areas. At the back of the garden, a rectangular koi pool has been built, with big granite rocks breaking the angular shape and providing sitting place for relaxation by the water feature and great views to the valley. A natural looking stream meanders between rocks and stones and crosses a wooden bridge before cascading over the pool, bringing life and movement to the garden.
Recovered old granite steps and railway steppers have been used to construct a big stair to solve the twelve meter level change at the front of the house. This, together with the old trees included in the design, achieve an antique look in a newly created garden.
